Kinematics Vector Fund

Decoding Motion. Compounding Capital.

A Differentiated Portfolio Management Strategy from Sincere Syndication

Dear Investor,

We are delighted to introduce Kinematics Vector Fund to you for the first time. Markets can sometimes appear completely still. An index may remain flat for months, giving investors the impression that nothing much is happening. But beneath the surface, the market is rarely standing still.

Capital is constantly moving.

It moves out of certain sectors and into others. Some businesses quietly begin attracting investor interest and gaining momentum, while others gradually lose it. New opportunities emerge even as older ones fade. In other words, even when the overall market appears to be going nowhere, movement continues beneath the surface.

This led us to a simple but important question:

If the index itself is not moving, does that mean investors cannot find opportunities to compound their capital?

That question became the foundation of Kinematics Vector Fund.

Kinematics is built on the idea that instead of focusing only on where the overall market might go next, we should also understand where capital is moving right now. Inspired by the principles of motion observed in nature, Kinematics seeks to understand not just where prices are, but how they are moving whether that movement is strengthening, weakening, accelerating or changing direction.

In the pages that follow, we invite you to explore how this simple observation has evolved into a disciplined and repeatable investment process. Because sometimes, the most important opportunities are not found by looking at where the market is standing but by understanding where it is moving.

Why Kinematics. Why Now.

India continues to grow. Businesses are expanding, earnings are compounding and the long term economic opportunity remains compelling. Yet markets do not always move with the economy.

Over the last couple of years, investors have experienced prolonged periods of flat, volatile and uncertain markets. Global interest rates, geopolitics, commodity prices, liquidity and foreign flows have repeatedly influenced market direction, often overshadowing otherwise healthy domestic fundamentals. Most of these factors are beyond the control of investors and fund managers.

Kinematics Vector Fund has been built around to generate absolute returns across market environments by identifying where meaningful price movement is developing, participating when the evidence is favourable and stepping aside when it is not.

The objective is to find return opportunities even when the broader market is flat, volatile or directionless.

Reading What the Market Is Telling Us

Every market price reflects the collective actions of millions of participants continuously processing information on earnings, growth, valuations, liquidity, risk and expectations. In that sense, the market is a vast aggregation of collective intelligence.

Fundamentals matter. Earnings matter. Growth and valuations matter. So do expectations, liquidity and risk.

Much of this information ultimately finds expression through price and its movement.

Kinematics attempts to read that movement. Not merely where a price stands today, but whether the movement is strengthening, weakening, accelerating or changing direction.

The Science of Motion. Applied to Markets.

Kinematics is the science of motion.

In physics, movement can be understood through direction, velocity, acceleration, momentum, energy and waves.

Markets too move in phases. Trends emerge, gather strength, accelerate, weaken and eventually reverse. Capital rotates between sectors and securities. At times, meaningful price movement begins before the complete investment narrative becomes obvious.

Kinematics applies mathematical and quantitative principles inspired by these patterns of motion to study markets, sectors and securities.

It seeks to understand:

  1. Where is capital moving?

  2. Where is that movement strengthening?

  3. Which securities are participating?

  4. When should we enter?

  5. How much should we allocate?

  6. And when should we move away?

The objective is not to predict every market turn.

It is to recognise the movements that matter.

One Integrated Investment Architecture

The investment process follows a disciplined top down progression:

  1. 1Market
  2. 2Sector
  3. 3Security
  4. 4Entry
  5. 5Position size
  6. 6Risk management
  7. 7Exit

The broader market sets the context. Sector movement narrows the opportunity set. Security level analysis identifies where participation is strongest. Entry determines when to act. Position sizing determines how much capital to commit. Risk management governs exposure. Exit determines when the evidence has changed.

These are not isolated decisions.

“They form one integrated investment architecture.”

Where Do Fundamentals Fit?

Kinematics does not discard fundamental analysis. It uses it differently.

Price movement reflects the combined expectations and actions of millions of market participants. Changes in earnings expectations, business prospects, sector dynamics, liquidity and risk can begin expressing themselves through price before the full narrative becomes apparent.

Kinematics seeks to identify such movement systematically.

Fundamental analysis then provides an additional layer of validation and risk control. Business quality, financial strength, governance, liquidity and other material considerations continue to matter.

Kinematics is therefore neither conventional fundamental investing nor conventional technical analysis.

“It brings market behaviour and fundamental judgement together within one decision framework.”

Focused. Flexible. Opportunity Driven.

The portfolio is expected to ordinarily hold fewer than 20 securities.

It is sector agnostic and market cap agnostic, with no predetermined allocation to large caps, mid caps or small caps.

Liquidity, however, remains important. The strategy is expected to predominantly invest in securities with adequate liquidity, allowing positions to be entered, managed and exited efficiently.

Capital can therefore move towards those sectors and companies offering the strongest combination of movement, liquidity and risk reward.

Being Invested Is Not Compulsory

Kinematics does not need to remain fully invested merely because capital is available.

When evidence is favourable, the strategy participates. When it weakens, exposure can be reduced. When compelling opportunities are unavailable, stepping aside can itself be an investment decision.

This flexibility becomes particularly relevant in flat, volatile or repeatedly changing markets.

The objective is not constant activity. It is intelligent participation.

Risk Management Is Part of the Process

Every investment strategy will occasionally be wrong.

What matters is how it responds when the evidence changes.

Risk management is embedded into Kinematics through position sizing, portfolio construction, liquidity assessment, exposure management, continuous monitoring and disciplined exits.

The framework seeks to reduce dependence on individual judgement, market narratives and emotion.

Decisions are driven by evidence and governed by process.

What Investors Are Really Investing In

An investor in Kinematics is not simply buying a portfolio of stocks.

The investor is participating in an investment decision architecture designed to answer four questions:

  • Where is the opportunity?
  • Where should capital participate?
  • How much should be deployed?
  • When should exposure be reduced or exited?

That is the essence of Kinematics.

Recognise movement. Participate intelligently. Manage risk. Compound capital.

An Alignment That Matters

Kinematics also follows a differentiated economic structure.

There is no fixed fund management fee.

The investment manager’s economics are linked entirely to performance, subject to the applicable PMS terms and onboarding documentation.

Capital under management, by itself, does not earn the manager a conventional fixed management fee.

Performance does.

This creates a clear alignment of interests.

We participate economically when our investors create value.

For investors, this is more than a fee structure. It aligns the manager more closely with the investment outcome that matters most.

Kinematics and Metamorphosis

Sincere Syndication approaches investing through different lenses.

Metamorphosis seeks transformation in businesses. Kinematics seeks transformation in market behaviour.

Metamorphosis asks:

Which businesses can become significantly more valuable over time?

Kinematics asks:

Where is the market revealing meaningful movement, and when should we participate?

The approaches are different. The objective remains the same:

“Compounding investor capital”.

A Different Question

Conventional investing often begins with:

“What do we think the market will do next?”

Kinematics begins with:

“What is the market telling us now?”

Markets will rise. They will fall. At times, they will simply go nowhere.

Yet beneath the index, capital continues to move between sectors, companies and opportunities.

Kinematics is designed to recognise the movements that matter, participate with discipline and endeavour to convert motion into compounding capital.

Warm Regards

Fixed Income Plus Fund

Asset Class Correlation

  • Gold & stocks have negative correlation
  • When equities return 2X of India 10-yr bond yields, Gold ETF returns are lower 83% of the time
  • Higher interest rates → lower equity returns (and vice versa)
  • Diversification across uncorrelated assets reduces overall portfolio volatility

Different asset classes have varying return profiles and trajectory. There is an inverse correlation between the prices of multiple asset classes.

For instance, gold and stocks have a negative correlation. Historically, when equities fetched returns of over 2X of India 10-year bond yields, 83% of the time, return on Gold ETFs in India was lesser than India 10-year bond yields. While at the same time, on most of the occasions when gold performed well, equities have fetched lesser returns. On a similar note, when the interest rates tend to be higher, the equity returns tend to be lower and vice versa.

The portfolio shall consist of an appropriate combination of debt instruments, along with equities & commodities to achieve the following objectives: Debt instruments shall be largely in the form of bonds & debentures, which would fetch fixed income, irrespective of the market conditions. A portfolio of equity-oriented instruments in the form of stocks & ETFs would be added to the portfolio to provide an incremental delta to return on investments. Gold / Silver related instruments & Exchange Traded Commodity Derivatives in the portfolio will function as a hedge against underperformance of the stock market. REITs, INVITs & such other instruments may also be added to the portfolio from the perspective of fixed income & capital appreciation.

Portfolio Composition

  • Bonds & Debentures — Fixed income irrespective of market conditions
  • Stocks & ETFs — Equity exposure for incremental returns
  • Gold / Silver & ETCDs — Hedge against stock market underperformance
  • REITs & INVITs — Fixed income + capital appreciation

Investment Strategy Goals

  • Hold bonds till maturity; leverage interest rate cycles for incremental returns
  • Inflation-beating returns with lesser volatility
  • Returns ahead of fixed income, closer to equity returns
  • Tactical equity exposure to enhance overall yield

The objective of having bonds & debentures in the portfolio would be to hold them till maturity. However, we shall take advantage of the interest rate cycles to generate incremental returns on bonds, over & above their yield till maturity. Such an approach of investing will fetch inflation-beating returns with lesser volatility. Further, the investment approach is likely to achieve returns that are ahead of any fixed income instrument and closer to returns from equities. The investment strategy is called fixed income plus as it seeks to achieve high returns than fixed income investment by leveraging on tactical exposure towards equity and other asset classes.
